Erika and I were invited to preview the BCBGMAXAZRIA Pre-Fall Runway collection before it hits stores this season. A luncheon event, filled with delicious food, hand-picked fine wines and amazing fashion, was hosted by Amanda Polk and Capitol File Magazine at the Adour restaurant in the beautiful St. Regis Hotel in DC. It was the kind of thing you wish you could do every day.
Lubov Azria, BCBGMAXAZRIA’s leading lady and the Chief Creative Officer of BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP, opened the event by explaining the meaning of a pre-fall collection as “summer styles in fall colors.” She then described her collection as a mixture of lingerie and active wear with an emphasis on movement and how the woman looks as she walks away. She really couldn’t have described it better.
Designs for this collection were inspired by the idea of the “romantic gypsy,” resulting in looks so fitting for the upcoming transition from summer to fall. The three models embodied the look of “Bohemian Rhapsody” with natural hair styles and make-up to accompany the collection of effortlessly feminine, flowing dresses and skirts.
As the runway show began, the room quickly filled with color, texture, and movement, just as Lubov had described. The main colors of the collection included black, white, navy blue, and grey, with pops of coral, neon green, red, turquoise and yellow throughout. It was the lacey details, geometric patterns, heavy pleating, and leather accessorizing that brought the collection to life. Specifically, each look was finished off with the Suspender Waist Belt or the Fringe Waist Belt, which I think everyone agreed is a must-have for the upcoming seasons.
It was such a pleasure to get to know the BCBGMAXAZRIA brand up front and personal. It is their generous hospitality and super wearable runway collection that leaves us yearning for more!
